SPEAKER_01:

Saddle up the sleigh, and we are one week close to the holidays of Christmas. Can you believe that? We are back at the Nestle Figure Warehouse, and it's time for another episode of Who's Driving. Welcome to Who's Driving? I'm Wesley Turner.

SPEAKER_02:

And I'm Steven Murphy with Two Best Friends and Entrepreneurs.

SPEAKER_01:

Who's Driving is an entertaining look into the behind the scenes of our lives, friendship, and business.

SPEAKER_02:

These are the stories we share and topics we discuss as two best friends would on a long road trip.

SPEAKER_01:

Along the way, we'll check in with friends and offer a wide range of informative topics centered around running small businesses, social media, and all things home and garden.

SPEAKER_02:

Buckle up and enjoy the ride. You never know who's driving or where we're headed. All we know is it's always a fun ride. And we ain't driving.

SPEAKER_01:

We ain't driving, we sliding inside.

SPEAKER_02:

It's this old cruise control headed in the wrong direction.

SPEAKER_01:

I know, and we we have to be live in the Nested Big app in 36 minutes. So it's gonna be a short episode today. I don't know, but you know it's here we are. Um, so it's gonna be a short episode, but you know what? That's fine. At least we can have a therapy session and whatever. Next week's episode is our last one for the year. Because then it gets a little crazy. Because from there we go Christmas, New Year's, Atlanta. And we're you we're traveling, we're going on trips. Atlanta, and then we'll pick up after Atlanta. We'll be telling you what we got for the new year. When we come back, we will have bought Christmas for 2026. I am ready.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm ready to go to the two as well. Because this year, this year, I think it was on point. We did really good.

SPEAKER_01:

Pat ourselves on the back.

SPEAKER_02:

The stores did really well. The employees did. I mean, I just couldn't be happy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's been a great season. Yeah. I know I was thinking. It's been the best. I know. I was thinking about, which we can talk about next year. That'd be our wrap-up for the year end. But I was thinking back, literally, I was like, I remember talking about last year at the end of the year, how we were like it was a turbulent year. Hopefully, this is better. This was a turbulent year too, but we'll talk about that more. Um, because we are in the ho ho ho down right now of the holiday season. Yeah, it's been crazy. Um, anything exciting been happening? I said, Do you have anything for our podcast?

SPEAKER_02:

He said, No, I didn't even know we were doing one until I haven't had a day off since like middle of October, literally. Which is fine. You know, I signed up for this. So did you. This is what we do. It is yeah, it's what we do, it's just the way it is. But, you know, um, I may look incredibly young, but I'm not. My old ass is tyranny. But it has been, even Dylan said, you know, I don't know what's different about this year, but he said, physically, I think you have held yourself up better. Yeah than in years.

SPEAKER_01:

We've gotten in the group where literally everything this far, I'll say this in the whole roof of fall in or something, but it has been busy but smooth. Yes. So that makes a difference when there's not the friction. We do have like we have our systems kind of.

SPEAKER_02:

And like McDonald's, this is Holt McDonald's. Oh, here we go. We've got we've had people in their places. It's like McDonald's from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Everybody asks us where they go, people in their places.

SPEAKER_01:

If you do it, it's gonna run like we're firing on all cylinders. Yeah. But you know, one of those cylinders will blow out tomorrow. We'll have a tire fly off and end up in my wind in my wind through my windshield in my lab. Exactly. But so far, but I think that's made the difference because I'm in the sail mode, live cell mode, and I love that. And it's all fun to me when it's not friction. Where it's not like, oh shit, this is falling apart, but we got to be over here. But you know, because we have years like that, plenty of years like that. We're most years where but this year it's been firing and smooth. We've been getting orders over to the retail stores, restock, they look amazing. Online's been busy. It's we got our shipping caught up right on time. So it has been. But anyway, that's good.

SPEAKER_02:

Our good customers and a great and great employees. And great employees for sure. We are very, we're very blessed with amazing employees and amazing customers. Yeah. And there's all you know, there's always a few pain in the asses trickled in on both sides. But you know, that's why. It is like but we are very, we all jokes aside, we're very fortunate. Yeah. Um, but what we're not fortunate, what I'm not fortunate of is I haven't done a damn thing for Christmas.

SPEAKER_01:

I have not bought one gift. Nothing. Only thing I do feel good. I so I did, because this year had gone like so smoothly, I printed out the live, I printed out October, November, and December calendar. And I made notes from when we did things. Like when I had my house decorated, when we did a live from my house. When I had mine. Yeah. I went, I had to go back and watch all my Instagram stories because I couldn't even remember. I was like, wait, when did I do this? So I tried to go through my Instagram story archive to see, like, okay, I was talking about we're gonna do this and this. So I made notes because it went um so smooth. So I'm very happy with we got for me, we both got our houses done early this year on time, the way we think we're going to every year, but it finally happened. So that's been all set and nice. Like my house is not felt in disarray like a lot, like normally I feel like it's just now like okay, it's it is what it is, or not complete. Yes, I've had a calmness when I go home. Yes. Because everything's good and in place, calm.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. So that's been good. The problem is with the only problem I have right now is all the presents under my tree are fake.

SPEAKER_01:

So that's what I'm saying. So all of that's good, but I haven't bought one gift. Nothing. I'm not sure it's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean heaven if heaven forbid, if I got if I get the flu or COVID knock on wood that that would be. Why did you have to bring that up? I'm just saying it's not gonna happen. It's no.

SPEAKER_01:

Because it's just I've never in my life. Well, it also shouldn't happen because we haven't been anywhere except for home in the warehouse. So you haven't even been around people. You haven't even taken your Charlotte trip to the stuff right over here from the Nest warehouse. Oh, I well, you know, that's the first shopping. I know, right? Um, I do have an ick this week. What is an ick? What ick do you have? But I don't know, it's become not so popular, but popular enough. I don't want to really hurt anybody's feelings. But so this isn't a per this is a personal opinion. I cannot stand. This is I don't like her either. No, the permanent Christmas lights that people are putting on their houses. Ooh. Don't do that. And I know people are spending good money doing this, but it look it does not look like Christmas lights. It looks commercial, it looks like a McDonald's.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, or uh a bar or something. And here's the other thing I'll tell y'all from a real estate standpoint. And if you go to sell your home, that shit's gotta come down. Uh that is not a selling feature. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It's just not and and then they're like, and you can change it different for different seasons. And you know what that's the equivalent of? Having a Christmas tree and trying to make it look like Easter or your Valentine's tree. Stupid. It looks dumb. I just I try, I genuinely try to like it because I love technology. There are people doing that? Yes, a lot of people. I've seen houses near me, more of them have it, but I've seen a lot on Instagram and like some of the like you know, bigger accounts and stuff, and I'm like, it just looks wrong wrong. And one day I'll probably like it because I feel like they'll get it right. It needs to be spaced out.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't like that stuff permanent fixed on a house. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean, it gets into maintenance issues, it looks but it doesn't even the people who have it, it doesn't look Christmas holiday cheerful. It looks like commercial, a commercial. And so I'm just like just don't do it. Like, don't waste your money on it. But that might be a wrong thing to say because I'm sure someone's like, Well, I do it and I love mine. Well, and that's you know what?

SPEAKER_02:

That's you. But also these people that have blue and purple hair, they probably love it too, but I think it's as wrong as can be. But you know, it's not about me. That's why there's chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream. It ain't it, you know, it ain't the Stephen show. It's it ain't the Wesley show.

SPEAKER_03:

It should be. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I mean, I think it should be, but I look at what some people are doing.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm like, I just, yeah, that's my I've seen it a lot this week. Like, I got my permanent lights installed, and I'm like, that's right up there with those uh flesh-colored leggings. You know what I would do? This is honest. If you were gonna spend that money and you want your house to look good, what you really need to do is get good landscape lighting instead. That makes a difference all year long.

SPEAKER_02:

Doesn't have to actually adds to the value of your home and a selling feature of your home, curb appeal. Right. Because that shit, that Christmas like shit, that would hurt yourself. Yeah. You have to get rid of it. Yeah. And I look at everything as see, I I look at everything with the home as resale, right? Kerb appeal, resale. How does this affect? Is it a waste?

SPEAKER_01:

It's a waste. Yeah, it is. And it doesn't even give the effect, but I know you're really wanting. What you're wanting is to not have to string up Christmas lights every year. Well, then just don't do it. Don't do it. Or just do a spotlight in your yard and light up your front door. Yeah, put a pretty wreath on it, keep it simple. You don't have to do a light lighted wreath. Yeah, big pretty bow on it. Just right over here. Do one tree in your yard. Something like that. Yeah, keep it simple.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, you don't have to go all Clark Griswold out there. I know. I mean, I I I do think it's really fun. Like the child in me when I drive by and see the Clark Griswold Christmas vacation houses.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, yeah, my mom's neighborhood does that. Is it colored lights all over the bushes? Celia, I know you're listening. She gets the best house in the neighborhood. She did she said, Do you need to take a picture?

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, yeah. You've never sent me a picture.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, I haven't. Oh, they go all out. They have lights. Not all the house, but a lot of the house. But I love that. And it's fine. Children love it. Yeah. It's more, they do it more on their landscape than on the house, but just the, you know, it's their bushes and landscape. But that's the way it's Yeah. It's really pretty.

SPEAKER_02:

So you know, um, there's a mansion up right up from the mill. I won't call it out because I don't I don't I don't care. Um here we go, getting canceled for 2026. There's a mansion right up from the mill. I won't say who lives there, but y'all know the house if you live in Greenville. Um it's a mansion. It used to be a mortuary. Looks like a mortuary because they didn't do it right. Um I mean, it's it well, I mean, there it's just wrong. Yeah. Anyway, they have urns out front probably 42, 4 42 to 48 inches in diameter.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. And they have looks like the size of a kitchen table.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. Which is in scale. It should be. Yeah. But planted in there is a little arborvide, and it's about 18 inches tall.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, we got the case. So they got the containers in scale, but the planting's this tall.

SPEAKER_02:

It looks like this coffee cup sitting in the place. So well, that's bad enough.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

But they string lights on anything they can get lights on. Oh. And they've got it around those little trees, and they're this big. So it looks like you've taken a big wad of Christmas lights and just dropped them in the middle of that big error. I just I want to leave a note for them because you know, they have some money. You wouldn't have that house if you didn't. But you know, money don't buy you taste.

SPEAKER_01:

It sure doesn't.

SPEAKER_02:

And if y'all listening to it, I'm just telling you. You need to fix it. It's it's bad. And people make fun of you. Oh my gosh. Well, I'm just telling I'm just putting it out there. Oh my god. I didn't say who they were. But if they're listening, they're potential customers. It's fine. We don't, I mean, they're really, they're not our customer. Okay. It wouldn't look like that.

unknown:

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02:

But it's like what you're saying. Like sometimes you just we sometimes you take it a step too.

SPEAKER_01:

It's better to not do it than do it wrong.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. And I'm like. Especially uh just those perfect lined up LED lights, just it just perks me. And it's funny because you know, we have some houses right in front of the farm that they built. And one, I think two of them now have the permanent lights. And then one of them has the traditional light, they just outline their roof with the traditional lights. And it, I'm like, I don't know. It just looks so much better.

SPEAKER_02:

It gives you that Christmas vacation look versus something that looks like it should be on a McDonald's or or the, you know, the landing strip at the airport.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's too perfect. So I don't know. Maybe we need to come up with something how to fix that. They need like I don't think you can fix that.

SPEAKER_02:

I know because they're too perfect. Too space. But you know, there are people that like that that perfect look.

SPEAKER_01:

They're wrong. I mean yeah. It's like the shape, too. They need to make a cover. I don't know. I'm trying to they need to make a cover that goes over them that looks like a light bulb or something. How much does this cost? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

Too much. I mean, I'm just curious. I think I'm gonna give you that for your Christmas. When you're gone for Christmas. When you're gone back and I will have it all trimmed, like down the side, just the whole thing is just gonna look and I'm gonna have it where you can't shut it off. You can just change the color.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh my gosh. That's it. Sometimes the neighbor that's in front, like that. Luckily, they face a different rope. I mean, it'd be on randomly. I'm like, what did you hit a button? And it'd be some random ass colors. And I'm like, what is this? But anyway, this you should do that. Give that to me for well, you know, even at the meal.

SPEAKER_02:

They things just make you go, hmm. So, and I, you know, it during the holidays, um I I look away at a lot of things. Uh as the HOA. I mean, they're breaking rules, but I'm like, it it's the holidays. 60 days, Stephen. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. It's not worth it. Let them enjoy it. Yeah, don't be that. But I'm like, you know, one person on their balcony will put up the warm, pretty lights, and I'm like, oh, that's pretty good. And then they'll run into the next blue. Yeah. And I'm like, what makes you think that looks good? But what really gets me?

SPEAKER_01:

This is it, the wall. Well, there's a lot of people. Sorry to cut you off, nothing new there. We're three years in. Um, but there's a lot of people until you point out, they don't realize the difference between the warm white lights and the blue lights. Fluorescent. Like even in their lamps, they don't notice it. They don't know until you're like, so if those blue fluorescence LED lights, those are for your those are for your like mud room, your closet, your shop in a closet. I know. But I'm just thinking, that's where you can keep that where you need bright light. I was like, I changed mine out.

SPEAKER_02:

I was like, I can't look at that. I mean, that throat throws me off even with my damn clothes. It does, because they don't look the same when you take it out. It's like, oh, I got all wrong clothes. No, you got wrong light. That's right. And you will be much uglier in that blue light. That's true. I mean, much uglier. The other thing is, and we need to make this clear. Look at your wreaths.

SPEAKER_03:

If you do an artificial wreath, it's so hung up.

SPEAKER_02:

Look at your wreaths.

SPEAKER_03:

He's so hung up on wreaths.

SPEAKER_02:

If it looks like you ran it over.

SPEAKER_03:

You said this last week. Did I? Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

If it looks like you ran over it in your car, it's time to get a new one. Yes, we talked about this last one.

SPEAKER_01:

You are hung up on wreaths.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I just see it. Like, we'll go for walks, and I look at somebody and I'm like, they have had that thing. They've been dragging that out for five or six damn years. Uh-huh. Or 15. Dry rotted. Yeah. On its last. Listen, I'm not being mean. It's not people that can't afford it. These are people that can afford what the hell they want. Yeah. They're like, oh, it looks good. It'll do. It'd do.

SPEAKER_01:

Who is hung up on the wreath? You know what? We need for the nested big, because most of you who are listening join us on the nested big. And they've been asking for like subscriptions. We need a wreath of the season subscription. Oh my God, we do. We need one for, you know, after Christmas. We need one for like an Easter, a spring wreath, a summer wreath, a fall, and a Christmas. Subscription.

SPEAKER_02:

Don't have that forsythia wreath on your damn door when it comes July 9. That makes me angry too.

SPEAKER_01:

We need a wreath subscription. That would be awesome. Another thing I think they're thinking, Oh shit, my wreath is old.

SPEAKER_02:

Good thing Steven's not coming to I saw this in another city and I was like, We should do this because it's kind of giving. Okay. And I think it would be fun.

SPEAKER_03:

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02:

It was a it was a plant store. Yeah. And the owner and the em employees, certain ones, walked through the parade dressed alike, Santa hats and cute. Yeah. And they were all carrying fresh wreaths. And gave them out. And then when they were gone, they were gone. Yeah. But the people that had them, I think that would be such a nice. Well, it was this past week.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, no, I'm saying next year. But wouldn't that be a fun thing to do? You know, why don't we take the podcast on the road next week and go give people wreaths? Like where would we go? I don't know, just Augusta Road, wherever. You knock on their door, you can have your knife.

SPEAKER_02:

Would you like it?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Would you like a wreath?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And we just click plain red bow on it. Yeah. I thought it was really fun. And I was like, um, it's kind of in the middle of our season, but even if it was just me and you and Dylan and Daniel, like if we couldn't pull employees out, we could each carry like five wreaths on each arm.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, we're gonna make it a block. Be like, y'all don't get none in this block.

SPEAKER_02:

Or we could pull some. We could pull, we could have a wagon.

SPEAKER_01:

I think it's better to go to our local neighborhood for people who are around us who probably support us and are familiar. And we know some of the people that might be older or something and say, hey, we noticed you don't have a wreath. We would like to give you one if you want it.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And have a pretty bow on it. That's what we need to do.

SPEAKER_02:

I think it would be fun. I just saw that. I was like, I love that. Because there are people that can't afford it, and elderly people that would love a fresh wreath, but they're not gonna go out and get it.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. We need to do that. Let's take that before next week. Let's go give out some wreaths. I'm down. That would make me happy. You can rock on the here. Let's go downtown and ask them funny questions and they can win a wreath, too.

unknown:

That would be good.

SPEAKER_01:

Say, have you ever heard of who's driving podcasts? Let's see if we can find one person that's heard of us.

SPEAKER_02:

You have on your Christmas panties?

SPEAKER_01:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

If you could show us that you have on Christmas panties with a wreath or a Santa or something, just look, give us a peek, you get a free wreath.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh my god, that's funny.

SPEAKER_02:

That is too funny. So, yeah, I just think there's all kinds of nice things you can do. And I saw I was uh watching today a guy that retired that had been a police officer and he still wanted to help people and give back. Yeah. Um, I would have done this a little different, but I'll tell you what he's doing. He bought a um like a truck. Yeah. Um not a camper, but a big closed-in truck. Yeah. Almost like an RV. Yeah. And he filled it with washing machines and dryers. Oh. And he went around and uh with different homeless camps. Oh, and washed them. And and helped them wash their clothes.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, that's nice. And I was like, that is really sweet. Yeah, that is sweet. Not changing the subject, but that triggered. We gotta talk about because not everybody watched our live sale. You got scammed this week. And I think it's very important to talk about because other people who were watching said they fell for the exact same scam in different places. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02:

So And tis the season. Listen, I always this time it like in November, I always sent out a memo with paychecks because I always did paychecks. This was before everybody did direct deposits. Yeah. And I always did a letter that said, 'Tis the season for scammers. Yeah. And guess who got scammed?

SPEAKER_01:

Me. So this was, oh my gosh, y'all, this was such a good scam. So this is something that he Not a good, but good criminal. Yeah, I mean, good as in legit, easy to fall for scam. So I really don't want people to fall for this. So Steven was on Facebook and a friend who I'm all also friends with, who we know, who's a customer, all that. Great guy, known him for 30 years. Had a listing on his Facebook page. And it was like a listing that said, like, my uncle's going into assisted living or the nursing home or something like that. And we're having to sell off his things, and they're listed below. And it gave a list, and then it had all the pictures of the items. And so it was just like, you know, messaged me for to and it did say, like, I'm going, I have to be out of town today through, say this was Wednesday. I don't remember what day it was. But basically, I'm out of town with my uncle or whatever for the next three days. Message me for a deposit, and then you can see it when I get back. You can pick it up Saturday. You can pick it up Saturday when I get back and whatever. So Steven went on there, found something he liked, um, and sent the deposit to them, and then called me and was like, look at this listing or whatever. Um and And you saw three or four things.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, I was, yes. Well, I had an I dumbass here that is all skeptical of everything. For God's sakes, American Express called me and I put that poor person through hell. How do I know it's you? Just the day before. The day before. How do I know it's you? I don't know it's you. There are scammers. Yeah. And it was legit poor person. Thought I was crazy. Well, then dumbass here. Um, I sent them I sent them$2,000.

SPEAKER_01:

A$2,000 deposit. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Like it was$20, like a fool. But then, so he called me and I was like, and there was nothing. Because you felt bad afterwards. Like you were like, I feel so dumb. But there was nothing.

SPEAKER_02:

I had just chatted with him on Facebook like the 12 hours before. The friend. The friend. So Stephen.

SPEAKER_01:

There was no reason to mark the thing that the scammer did too. So the Stephen calls me, and I was looking at it. I was like, We were shopping. We were shopping. And Stephen was messaging the quote friend. And here's the thing: the friend had been hacked and locked out of his account. So he couldn't let anybody know that he had been hacked. But this hacker had scammer had taken over his account, but posting as him and looked legit. Um and it even worded like him. Whatever. But anyway. It sounded like him. So I'm like, hey, ask him if this is still available. And so I gave like three things, and he was smart enough because this is what really does it. He said, Oh, this and this is available, but the other one's already sold. And then even on the listing, he had names by people, like names by certain items, like sold, and they had had their name posted. Very smart. But not letting you put a deposit on everything made it that much more realistic. So But then, then so what I was about to like, where do I send my money to?

SPEAKER_02:

I'm like, wait, wait. Then it hit me. I was like, mmm, this might be a scam. I said, I need to talk to him on the phone before we send any more money.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I was like, wait, well, you said that. Like, what if this is a scam? And I said, Well, wait, don't you have his number like in your phone? And I said, Text him directly, not on Facebook. Because on Facebook, Steven text and was like, hey, can you call me or whatever? And he was like, I'm in a meeting. It'll be like 10 minutes or whatever, sort of thing. Um and then you text, like, well, how do you know me? I said, How did we meet? How did we meet? And he said something like very believable too. But that's we were already onto the stage. Just said, I'll call you. Oh, okay. Well, yeah, I guess you are. Yeah. So anyway, so luckily I didn't get scammed. We figured it out before then.

SPEAKER_02:

But Well, I would have felt e I mean, I felt like a freaking idiot. Like you feel like an old fool, is how you feel. You feel you know, like an old. Why didn't I catch this kind of thing? Yeah, you feel like one of those elderly people that gets taken advantage of. But you are elderly and you take advantage of it. But it was it was items that would get you excited. Yeah. And the other thing is they weren't dirt cheap. It was like the wholesale cost of the item.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it was like cheap enough to be like a great deal. Oh, like this is too good to pass up, but not like crazy.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. It's like, oh, they're just wanting to unload. Yeah, they're trying to get rid of all the stuff out of business. It's what I would do if I was like, I want to sell this. I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna offer it to Facebook friends at wholesale cost. Yeah. Because I know, you know, if I was gonna sell my watch, right? I could sell it to you at wholesale cost, or I could sell it to a jeweler at wholesale. Right. So why wouldn't I sell it to a friend? Yeah. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

But anyway. So be on the lookout for that because when we were talking about it in a live sale, other people were like, they had a same post got I know of two, I know of two people in Greenville.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. So that scammer got six thousand dollars just that I know of. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So Steven called, um, has it posted to your card yet?

SPEAKER_02:

It has, and it has been removed. So did they give you your money back?

SPEAKER_01:

Uh as of right now.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, that's good. And I filed um because the thing is, he spent two hours on the phone, and I forgot to tell, I didn't even think about this. But when something like that happens to you, they cannot do anything until it has posted, like to your credit card. Um the one saving grace with Mr. Not Up on Technology over here is they really wanted Zell, which would have been linked directly to your account, your bank account, and you can't get that back.

SPEAKER_02:

Um the crazy thing is I don't have Zell, but we do on the business account. So for a smidgen of a second, I was like, well, I'll just use it on the business and put the money back. Yeah. You know, to make it quick and easy. Because I mean, I've done that before. Like, oh, put this on PayPal and I'll put it back.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Um, and I was like, you know, this is a busy time of year. We actually have a lot of money in the bank. It's like, maybe not. Yeah. Because I'd rather it be a link to a card. So always do stuff on a credit card. Credit card, not debit, not don't link it to your bank account. Just be very careful.

SPEAKER_01:

And have um Because we just went to our bank. We had a like year-end meeting or whatever with one of our banks, and we went through this whole scam thing just two weeks ago. They were telling us how L the scam. They were telling us all the scams that were going around, and we were like, oh my gosh, because we added extra protection on our business account.

SPEAKER_02:

And make sure you have what's it called, authentication on your like two-factor. Two-factor authentication on your Facebook account and your Instagram account. Any social media, make sure you have two-factor authentication. That means if someone is trying to reset your password in Dubai, uh, you're gonna get a text message asking if it's you. Yeah. And so you can say, hell no. Yeah. That's very important. And I didn't have my two-factor authentication set. But now I do. Yeah. There you go. So I'm and uh ironically, I didn't tell you this. That night, that night we went to bed. We got up the next morning after being scammed. Um, a scammer was trying to get into Dylan's um account. Oh, really? Got an email. So we had to reach.

SPEAKER_01:

Y'all scammers that energy for something else. And smart they're smart. Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Why risk it in all of the sad thing is, the really sad thing is, and listen, I really want my money back. I feel very violated. Nobody likes that. But if I didn't get it back, it's not the end of the world. The sad thing is, is they are out there scamming people that cannot afford to lose that money. Right. I mean, it I don't want to throw that money away either. But people that really, maybe that's all their Christmas money or something. And it's terrible to do that.

SPEAKER_03:

It is.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, it's just wrong anyway, but it I feel bad for the people, and a lot of people wouldn't know how to get it rectified. And an elderly person, they would, it would all be I know. You're gonna be just a damn message. I'll I I'll have to give up my phone. Dylan will be able to take care of it. I'll have to give up my phone.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

But he didn't catch it either. Nobody called it told the dumbass that had already given the money said, Wait, I think we might be getting scammed here. And then everybody else is like, Yeah, we might.

SPEAKER_01:

But the funny thing is, well, you didn't think of it from because nothing on his page, because I even went to his page to make sure, like, has he posted recently because to see if it was someone, you know, an inactive account. Always look for something like that. It wasn't. So I didn't think any because I didn't think anything of it, but yeah, it was a scam.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and I hate it for I hate it for the friend that got hacked because he feels bad that his friends were taken advantage of. Yeah, but it wasn't it. It wasn't his fault. No, I mean, it could happen to any of us, but just send it send him a bill. Seriously, like I'm pissed about this. No, he felt really bad. And I was like, it is not your fault. Yeah, but just be very careful right now, and um, even when you're out shopping, just be real cognizant of where you're parking. And if you get an icky feeling, you have that feeling for a reason, listen to your gut and always double check or something like that. Because there, I mean, there are people out there breaking in cracking on the city. Working hard. Working hard to scam people. They are, they are, and you can get you could end up getting hurt or killed. Yeah. So it's really not worth it.

SPEAKER_01:

All right, I hate that this is a short one, but it is 7.59. We're supposed to be live in one minute, which isn't gonna happen. And we gotta pull all the items. So we're gonna be about 15 minutes late to our live sale. But um, we gotta pull this baby over. Tis the season. I feel like so. Next year will be season four when we come back of the podcast. I feel like we need to step it up a notch next year. I feel like we did good this year, but I feel like we weren't like coasted through. I think we just we were very busy. We were very busy. We never had a guest on. I don't even know, did Daniel or Dylan even join us this year? It kind of blew by. Yeah, but we were Yeah. We gotta revamp and bring our A-game for twist. Yeah, we gotta get recommitted. We need to have some hitchhikers on, some of our friends on.

SPEAKER_02:

We need to retouch on uh for 2026. So from our first season, like we need to revisit and talk about our Airbnbs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Because things change. We need to do some more business stuff. We need to get back to some more things. But you know what? We got we're doing the best we can. We're gonna show up at the end of January and be like, Lol, we're here. We're here we are. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, yeah. There's still so much to talk about. Like, there's so much, and I know so many of you messages y'all love the McDonald's stories, and and I'm so tired of damn McDonald's.

SPEAKER_01:

I know. Well, I need to go get a job there so you have more stories.

SPEAKER_02:

I know. Well, I I did tell my friend Um, I like the McDonald's. I I I told my friend that he he owns a McDonald's. I really want to come work one day. And I mentioned um a lot of sale, and they were like, tell us when, because we actually have a lot of customers around that store. That's right. Yeah, they're like, we want to come see you. I told him, I'm like, it's gonna be a meet and greet.

SPEAKER_01:

We're gonna make it a meet and greet. Alright, that's it. We gotta pull this baby over. Hope y'all have a great week. We'll be back next week. That'll be our last episode of 2025. So we'll see you back here next week. And then before we know it, we'll be back for 2023. Happy Christmas shopping. Um, I'll take cash. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I like cash.

SPEAKER_01:

Should we put our uh mailing address down below? Sizes, sizes, gift cards, cash, uh name and markets, gift cards, my um Venmo down below.

SPEAKER_02:

I think we should put both.

SPEAKER_01:

Thanks, y'all. Bye y'all.
