Atlanta Showrooms And Live Sales Access

SPEAKER_02

You never know who's driving or where we're headed. All we know is it's always a fun ride. Oh, we're back. We missed last week's, but you know. Get used to Stephen's gone. Steven was gone. Well, we were gonna record. What day did you leave? You were gone on Monday. We were gonna record on Sunday, but I'd already It just didn't happen. It just didn't happen. But so here we are. And you're back. So you spent last week in Atlanta another market adventure week. Did I? It wasn't a market, but you went down for market to do live sales. Might as well. I made it a market. You did. You made your own market. Steven and Dylan's Deluxe Market Adventure.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it is so it's a shame that the other buildings are not open. Because we when we go, you know, if you're listening, um, it's just one building that's uh really open for the most.

SPEAKER_02

Very few in the other buildings.

SPEAKER_01

But my God, we could do so much if everybody was open. Just cooperate because nobody's in your way. Yeah. And we've gotten in really good with some of the owners there, and they actually close their showroom for us. They do not let people in. I know, isn't that nice? It is very nice.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it is very you know our people be shopping when they're like, Oh, we'll close for you and let you do your lifestyle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and like they get kind of loud with them. Like one lady was like, How much and she's like, ma'am, ma'am, we are not open, they are trying to work. I'm like, Oh gosh, that puts the pressure on, doesn't it? Yeah, I wasn't I wasn't there for that when Amanda and Dylan were telling me she was like, they are working. They are can't you see they're doing a live?

SPEAKER_02

That's funny. I was like, Yeah, it was kind of nice. I had the week off from doing live sales. Um seriously, which was nice because I got other random work done. I can't remember now, but I did get I ended up, you know, I was like, oh, I ain't gonna do nothing because I've been getting things very like for me and us kind of ahead. We're usually behind the eight ball, it's just the nature of the business, not not in an unorganized way. I'm always behind the eight ball, but not in an unorganized way, just you know, that it's always moving. And I'd gotten us in a good place, and I was like, and everything was flowing, like clicking.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I talked about it.

New Meds Keto And Side Effects

SPEAKER_02

From vendorship at my place at Hilton Head, because yours was booked. I know, but Daniel, it was too busy. So anyway, but then I ended up working a a lot, but it was just on different things that I don't normally work on, so it was fine and it was a lot of fun. But I don't think there was anything crazy exciting um that happened. But we are going, Daniel and I are going to Hilton Head tomorrow. Tuesday. Today's Monday for us recording. It should be nice, it should be cool. We're going there tomorrow. He wants to leave in the morning, and then um we're coming back on Thursday just in time. We'll leave Thursday morning, get back here Thursday afternoon for you and I to do a live sale Thursday evening. And then after that, you and I are headed to the high point furniture market. Yes, we are. So this week coming weekend will be there. It's just one market after the afternoon. Busy, busy, busy. So back to this past week when you and Dylan were at market and you Amanda did live sales. Anything exciting happened? Are we allowed to tell talk about the laxative incident? Or are we not talking about that?

SPEAKER_01

Is that well, it would have been nice not to bring that up.

SPEAKER_02

I can cut it out. We don't have to bring it up.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I started a new medication. It was unrelated to this. Well, it was this was funny. Not it wasn't funny at the time, it's funny now. Because I never um knock on wood. You know, at market, I'm always on it. Like I never I don't think I've ever, I mean, I've even I hate to admit this, but I even I've done market with COVID.

SPEAKER_02

At the when you were getting over it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, getting over it, but you still felt like I felt like I'd been hit by a train.

SPEAKER_02

The only time you've really had to flake out on market was that one time when you went out and got drunk and nearly died. Yeah, still went. At the end of the day.

SPEAKER_01

I was still drunk. At the end of the day. I've only missed one market completely. Completely, and that's when my mom was sick, so that wasn't even an option.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I've only missed one, and not an Atlanta one, but last high point market in October, I didn't go because it was we were getting ready for Christmas floor set. Yeah, and it just made sense. Yeah, and I didn't I set that one out. Um that's the only yeah, but anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I had started a before I left, you know. I was telling you, oh my god, I think I've got the flu or covet because I felt really bad. You know, I felt like I had the flu or COVID.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he's being a little dramatic. He felt off, but he didn't have fever. I just felt off.

SPEAKER_01

I felt like I felt when I would get COVID, is how I felt.

SPEAKER_02

Like, but they're right in a cough or I was congested.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Which that's what made me like in my sinuses, I was congested. I woke would wake up, stopped up, and then I felt bad. So I was like, oh God, but where would I have got like I hadn't been around people and didn't know anybody that had it? I was like, I don't think I have COVID. But I had started a new cholesterol medication, Zedia, in case any of you are on it out there. So I'm already on a statin, so I started a second statin because um probably because I did the keto diet. That's how I lost 23 pounds since uh Christmas. I did keto, so I ate a lot of meat and a lot of cheese and a lot of bacon, and I was just gonna try it. I know for some people that works with their cholesterol, some people it doesn't. Had my blood work done, everything was great except cholesterol, and it it was not good. It doesn't, keto does not work for me long term. So um, but I decided to uh Dr. Merck decided to add a second um statin. And so I thought, you know, this is weird because I just like I started taking that medicine yesterday and then I feel weird, like I've got COVID. I Googled it and I had all the symptoms. Yeah. And from side effects. Yes, and my legs hurt so bad. Like I was waking up in the middle of the night. I was like, I can't do this. Yeah. And I had talked to my dad, and he said, Oh, I can't take statins at all. Like he can't take any. Yeah. And I was already on one and I was adding a second. So I thought, okay. So I went to market and it was getting some better. Just in case anybody gets on it, it lasted six days. It was six days of torture.

SPEAKER_02

Because you said, I think, did you talk to your doctor, or you just said, or maybe you read to stick it out for like a week or so to see if to see if your body adjusts. So you're like, okay, I'm gonna stick this out. And it's fine. I'm all back to normal. Okay, so you did adjust.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I adjusted, but um, I just got there and I just couldn't go to the bathroom. It was terrible. And you know, I'm just not like that. And so, and I am like you, like Wesley's like, I'm a doctor if you didn't know it. Um self-proclaimed physician honorary.

SPEAKER_02

Um went through many, many Google documents to get your degree.

SPEAKER_01

After you spend so many hours on Google, you are a doctor. Uh-huh. And so I thought, gosh, you know, and I had tried like the calm, the magnesium calm. Dylan takes that, and then I stepped it up and I took some uh dolkalacs, magnesium chews, nothing. And I was feeling like stopped up at market.

SPEAKER_02

You've been there since Monday.

SPEAKER_00

Nothing happened.

SPEAKER_02

You're like, I gotta go.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

So had you not gone that whole time? Nothing.

SPEAKER_01

It was concrete. Oh my god. And so I thought I was that long without anything. I'm as listening I'm like the sun coming up in the morning regular.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I said, Well, I know what does work because I was like, I know what I did when I did my colonoscopy. So I went and bought that.

SPEAKER_02

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Well.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so here's the thing before you get into your story, dilemma, and disaster. Steven, which you were about to say a minute ago, he does things consistently in his life to the extreme. You know what I'm saying? Remember the story going back to having the THC drink, and I was like, no, it's the 10 milligram. And of course, Steven got the 60 milligram. If you say, hey, here's a new, I'm just gonna use an example, liquor. You can only have one shot of this. It's gonna mess you up, Steven. You're gonna do three. Yeah, he's gonna do three. It it's just I'll be fine. Yeah, I'll be fine. That's not enough. That's no big deal. That's not gonna do nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Knowing I'm very sensitive to medication. Like I am. I'm very sensitive now because I drink very I didn't drink for a year and a half. I drink very, very little. So one drink now, I feel it. Yeah. And then I've always been sensitive to medicine.

The Laxative Disaster And Cleanup

SPEAKER_02

It must be an OCD um some kind of sub because you would do this on anything. Like if someone said you need to go get your back popped once a week for the next six weeks, you're gonna go three times a week for the next six weeks. Make it a bit better. More more is more. It's on everything. Like, okay, but anyway. No, it's true. It's true. So you get to the laxative, and he just takes the whole damn box, evidently.

SPEAKER_01

But I was like, well, when I had my colonoscopy, it said take four at one time. Now you're only supposed to take one or two on the directions, but I was like, well, I know four worked. Yeah. But I will say this four when I did four, it was very simple. Like, took four, went like an hour and a half later, and that was that was all she wrote. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

But you hadn't been built up for six days.

SPEAKER_01

Correct. Okay. Correct. Y'all learn from my mistake. And I know this is TMI. But learn from my mistake.

SPEAKER_02

Don't take so he said four didn't work in an hour or two, so I'm gonna take six. Anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Right? No, I just know I had taken three, and then I was like, oh, that ain't doing nothing. So I took another but to four. But that's what I had taken for my colonoscopy. So I knew it wouldn't hurt me. Yeah. Well, the problem is I did this at 10 o'clock at night. But my thought was I will be up till midnight because I usually don't fall asleep until 12 or 1. I mean, I'll be in bed watching Netflix or whatever. Yeah. I'll be awake and it won't be a big deal. It'll be over. I'll go to sleep. And then work the next day. Because keep in mind, we worked Saturday in in Atlanta. This is Friday. Friday night. Well, I went to bed. I dozed off. It hit me about somewhere around 2 a.m. Oh God. I woke up, went, went to the bathroom. I was like, okay. We got maybe this is it. We got movement. So I went back to bed, fell asleep. Well, I guess it hit me before I could wake up. Well, when I woke up, it was too late. It was all she wrote.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my God.

SPEAKER_01

And I said, oh my goodness. So I mean, I'm up. I know poor Dylan didn't. I know he didn't get any rest. I shit my pants. I shit the bed. I shit the whole place. Oh my God. And it was non-stop. So I had an appointment. I had an appointment on I had to meet. Yeah. Because a warehouse was opening. The owner was opening the warehouse for us up special on Saturday.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like I had to be there. And I was like, oh, and at eleven at 11 o'clock, I could not, I thought I'm not going to quit shitting. It was it was like something on TV. I was like, oh my God. Yeah, it was like bridesmaids. I was like, oh my God.

SPEAKER_02

It's the lava.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And I was like, oh my God. So I text him. I was like, hey, um, I think I'm going to be 12 15 getting there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Then I was like, oh. I was like, I think it's going to be 1230.

SPEAKER_02

And then it just stopped. It got out of your system.

SPEAKER_01

Just everything. Well, there wasn't nothing. Well, I was then it was like the dry heaves, but down there, I mean, I was empty, but it was so note to self, do not do that before bed. I thought it would be over. The last time it was over, but I guess I, you know. There wasn't as much to clean out last time. Wes uh Dylan was like, what is happening?

SPEAKER_02

I was he said it was horrible. You said you left a tip for the cleaning lady. I did. I did.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it was just, I was just, it was uh, it was, you know, and I'm very always very neat and respectful, but I was like, I gotta give her a little extra. I mean, it was just a bad situation. Oh god. Again, I know that's TMI, but maybe it will help you because it's a teaching moment. It is.

SPEAKER_02

Oh gosh. I didn't know I hadn't even heard the whole story. Because you called, I called you on Saturday. I said I hadn't had any rest. He was about to go live and I was making sure everything was. I was setting up a coupon or whatever. It was work. And he was like, Oh, it's been a rough morning. I hadn't had any rest. It was a disaster. I had to tell you about it later.

SPEAKER_01

And then I thought, I was, I thought, so I um it was funny because I was getting dressed that day and um some of my custom jeans are you know, cream. Dylan was like, I don't believe I'd wear those cream jeans if I were I said, I think I'm gonna take your advice on that.

SPEAKER_02

That is not the ones to wear today. That reminds me, I'm sure we told this on this on the podcast too, but remember we were in high point. And Steven and I were sharing a room one time, and I was in the bathroom, and I was using the bathroom, and Steven's like, you gotta get out.

SPEAKER_01

I've I've got to use it. It was one of those moments, you know, it just the coffee hit or something. I was like, Oh my god, I cannot even make it downstairs at the hotel. We were sharing a room. I was like, oh my god, oh my god, what am I gonna do? And he was not in a hurry.

SPEAKER_02

I was not moving fast enough.

SPEAKER_01

So I thought I would use the trash can, and I overshot the trash can, and we had like the bedding was actually really nice.

SPEAKER_02

It was like a white linen, yes, it I think when I really because you stood up and dragged your ass across the end of the bed.

SPEAKER_01

You can laugh all you want, but these things happen.

SPEAKER_02

So then I'm in the bathroom and Steven's like, hand me, hand me a washcloth and don't come out. Don't come out, wet it and don't come out. Hand me the shampoo. You did wash it out.

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't tell that place. It was you could not tell when I got through with the washcloth and shampoo in that place, you could not tell that it was a shitbox. Uh-oh, talking about a shitty day. Well, you know. Oh my god. And why does stuff like that happen to me?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. You set yourself up for it somehow. Somehow.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's procrastination, like, oh, I'll get to it, I'll go later.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'll go later.

SPEAKER_02

And it's like yeah, you need to learn to read, read the room, read the body. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

After you know, after 50, you can't play around.

SPEAKER_02

But this has been happening to you forever. You were in your 40s when you shit in the room. Oh, yeah. Oh god. I came out of there. I was like, what is happening out here? Well, I had to go and you were a situation.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Oh god. You know, I see those people that prep post like homeless people that are sitting on trash cans and all these. I'm like, poor things. I cannot imagine being in there. I would be right there with them. I'd be sitting on the trash can, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

I think we need to start packing a diaper bag. No. I mean. I think is what we need to do. Oh my gosh, that is crazy. I'm glad you shared your stories with us.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, probably shouldn't have shared that one, but you know, many. I hope y'all enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_02

Too late now. There's too many others we shouldn't have shared, too.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody has them. Not everybody tells them. That's true. Everybody has them. That's true. We've all been there. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

But maybe you'll be able to pick up on how to handle it.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

High Point Market Game Plan

SPEAKER_02

You'll go, oh my God, I just shit myself. Wait, I heard this on the Who's Driving podcast? I know exactly what to do. Oh my gosh. Well, everything ended up fine. It's true. You're still here. Um yes. So this week, like I said, we're headed to I can't wait, since I did miss the last high point furniture market. I can't wait to go there and see, you know, the latest trends and everything. We're gonna do some live sales from there too, but we it's gonna be on the fly. Yeah, I don't know what we're doing yet. Yeah, I don't either. I mean, I got ideas. We just have to walk past vendors and be like, Yeah, to see if it works. Yeah, if it works in our schedule, but we'll do something.

SPEAKER_01

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I know.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so I can't.

SPEAKER_01

We're taking we're taking um two of our designers with us. So um that that throws a different mix. So I'll have two designers, plus I'll have our franchisees with us. So I'm taking Xanax. I'm gonna do my own thing. Good luck.

SPEAKER_02

I I will be shopping on my

SPEAKER_01

Love, I love all of them dearly. All four. And they're all great. They're all phenomenal. Our designers that's going could not ask for better. Love them dearly. Our franchisees are not only great people, they're dear, dear friends. But it doesn't matter who it is. It market, it is so overwhelming because I'm so my brain.

SPEAKER_02

It's just another element.

SPEAKER_01

And then when I've got things to do, so I've got to make a list of things I've got to do. And I did make appointments, which is good because that will help me. Stay on track. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because you're like, hey, y'all, we got to go. We got to keep moving. Because people who, you know, we've been going to market, it seems like forever now. Um, and we have our systems down place. And we know what it takes to get through the whole market, whether it's hopeing or Atlanta. We know the pace that we have to go if we want to see everything. But when you get someone who doesn't come all the time to the market, they are much slower. And so you got to keep the pace.

SPEAKER_01

And it's strenuous. And the other thing is, is I might skip a vendor, but I know in the back of my head, oh, I did that three years ago. They suck, or they're a pain in the ass, or they're too expensive. You know, I know all the reasons. And then with them, you have to explain it to it.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I know they have great things, but they're hard to work with, or we never got it, or we've done it before, or it's overpriced.

SPEAKER_01

You had to explain the why.

SPEAKER_02

And when it's employees, you have to explain it in a why, like uh, you know, uh uh a good way, so it doesn't make them feel bad or dumb or no, yeah. It's a good idea, but it's not a fence, you know, it doesn't hurt their feelings. Yeah, you can't hurt their feelings.

SPEAKER_01

Because it, you know, there's vendor after vendor, so it's easy to be like, no, we can't no, no, and then they're like, Why we end up saying like even when Daniel goes and even Dylan, it's like I feel like the whole time they're like, What about this? No, no, no, no. That's what I feel like we do the whole no, yeah, no, no, no. Whereas you and I, we can go, mm-hmm. Yeah. I'm like, okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or you're like, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's and we don't even ask questions why we and then, or you'll go, no, remember, and I'm like, eh, remember. Yeah. So it makes it, it gives it another challenge, but it makes it fun too. And it's fun for them. Yeah. It is important. So listen, and I I'm taking advantage of it. I'm sitting my ass back. I'm gonna let them do some of the work. No, you do that. You pick out, you pick out what you want to sell.

SPEAKER_02

I'm ordering myself two chairs at this market, by the way. So it's time. I need two chairs.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's fine. You go ahead and order you two because you need something. No, I bought some original art in Atlanta. And one just I can't part with.

SPEAKER_02

It's yours now.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, oh my god, Dylan. I was like, I can't, I I just don't think it can. So what we've decided, um, we're gonna put it in the store, but I'm gonna put a price tag on it because it's worth a lot. And if someone buys it, then I won't feel I won't have angst about it.

TikTok Fundraising And The Free House

SPEAKER_02

But if they don't buy it, it's going home with you. Okay. I like it. You think that's fair? That works. We love that. Oh, I have this is all over the place. Um, a fun little follow-up. I think it's fun, um, from last year. Remember the girl that the 14-year-old girl that was trying to buy the house?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So, and you know, someone ended up buying it. Or she raised all the money to buy the house, but then someone in before she did that, someone else ended up buying it.

SPEAKER_01

It's terrible. She should have gotten it. Bella. That's her name. Bella.

SPEAKER_02

Well, they have already um moved. They bought it, they did a couple of things. I think they said they found land and wanted to move, so they moved and she got the house. So she did end up getting it. So there's a fun little that is amazing.

SPEAKER_01

14 years old, and got her a free house. Yeah, on TikTok.

SPEAKER_02

I think they ended up because he did, so she had raised all the money on TikTok, donations and all that for the original listing price, if I paid close attention or whatever. Um, but then he had ended up, I think, maybe putting in a new AC unit and a roof. So they did have to, I think, finance like 30,000 or something. Or she'd come up with 30 extra thousand or something. Something I can't remember exactly, but but it was minimal minimum. A minimal amount for getting a house. Yeah. And so then they're gonna, you know, it's her house and they're gonna rent it out because she's only 14 or whatever. But it's a good one. Which would pay for pay for the Yeah, pay for the difference or whatever. And I'm like, isn't that crazy? 14. She made that happen. Well fun.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, y'all. I think uh there's a house I want. It's in it's in Cashers, North Carolina. It's gonna be a little more than that, but I'm gonna set up a GoFundMe.

SPEAKER_02

You want to do a little fundraising? You you know, if you um you could do it and set up tiers, and then you could raise the money, and if they donated a certain amount, like for every so much, they got a free night there later.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I'm saying? Do it like you're pre-selling an Airbnb.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So help me get it if I if I meet the goal, you get one night or four nights or whatever it is. That's a beautiful idea. Right. And so then it's, you know, and and you could um also you could take it a step further and say, We're we're gonna air B it for two or three years and we're gonna give uh so much back to certain charity.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And you could do a tier on there, say like if someone donated X amount, they get a weekend there with you while you're there. Oh, hell no. Do you want to come stay with OC? He may he may or may not shit in the floor there.

SPEAKER_01

You know, this stuff could like shouldn't happen to somebody with my with my predispositions of OCD and being just crazy. Why does stuff like that happen to me? I know it's kind of crazy, it's kind of cruel. Because you're so like clean and it is kind of persnickety and clean and obsessive, and I never go anywhere without my clothes just right, smelling good, right, and I'm the one that has a spastic colon and shits everywhere.

SPEAKER_02

But see, I would just think by now, when you felt the first little mm, you'd be like, okay, I gotta get to a toilet within the next five minutes. And I think you go, mmm, well, I don't know. Let me see if that's a little slow.

SPEAKER_01

It's all a little, it's it's all a little different the older you get. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Oh gosh, don't trust a fart. Mm-mm. I mean, you go ahead and laugh. Well, you y'all I cannot wait and for for the payback.

SPEAKER_02

But see, my payback version will be so many more times dramatic than like mine will be like, Steven, I was on stage and I shit my pants and it ran down my leg. That's what mine like mine will be all in all in one. Like it won't be like, oh, I was in the hotel room and this this will be like, oh my gosh, we got stuck in a cab somewhere, and you know, that happened.

SPEAKER_01

Well, see, I get nervous and think about now, like in traffic. I'm like, oh my god, like what would you do?

Bathroom Emergencies And Car Prep

SPEAKER_02

I know that's why you need a diaper back.

SPEAKER_01

You know, a a million years ago, a friend of mine they owned a McDonald's, and she her grandmother had died. This was it years ago, y'all. Y'all will if if you're from the east coast, you'll probably remember this. Um, and they're she had driven to her grandmother's funeral and she was bringing back some mementos, some quilts and things. Well, she was on I-40 when a snowstorm hit and it shut I-40 down completely for like three days.

SPEAKER_02

That is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

So she was stuck on I-40 in a car for three days. I would freak they had to they had to um the military had to uh bring them sandwiches and water with snowmobiles. Ah it was in Tennessee. Yeah. And in the mountains, probably. Yeah, it was on I-40 in the mountains in Tennessee. It was a horrible situation. I was so worried about her because I knew she was stuck on I-40. And oh my gosh. And you know, but you know what I had to add.

SPEAKER_02

What thankfully I wouldn't have any gas, first of all. I would freeze to death because I wouldn't have had any gas.

SPEAKER_01

But the I mean, the blessing with her was she had her grandmother had passed away and she had brought back like four or five quilts that her grandmother made. That was so the quilts kept her warm. But you know the question I had to ask, how did you use the bathroom? Yeah. Because you know, it was car after car after car after car. And she said that she had to hold it all day until nighttime. And she had uh, you know, she had three young children at the time, so she had some container in the car, and she would use it in the container and then get out of the car and go empty it. Oh my gosh. I mean, you don't think about things like that until like so she would turn the car on like once every hour and let it run because you couldn't let it keep running because of the carbon monoxide. And all everybody was kind of having to stay on a on a pattern, you know, yeah, or a schedule so nobody they didn't kill one another with carbon monoxide.

SPEAKER_02

That is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I would flip and it they became like all friendly with other people, but the snow was so deep you couldn't like walk to get to a hotel and they would have been booked anyway. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

I guess you go to the next do you got any snacks? You got any snacks? And I mean, there's nothing you can do. Like in a snowstorm like that, you can't, even if you have tons of money, you can't get a helicopter. Like if you were like, I'm paying for a helicopter to come get me. They can't.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. That would be so crazy. That's would that would get scary. Yeah. Yeah. Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, but I know me. I would have went, I would have I would see. This is one time I would have ended up dead because I would have taken out walking.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you would have. You'd have been letting them walk in somewhere.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not staying here. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

They'd found you when the snow melted.

SPEAKER_01

Where I'd shitted myself. So you never know. Like, that's why you really all of us should keep certain things in our cars.

SPEAKER_02

We really should.

SPEAKER_01

Because you never know.

SPEAKER_02

Especially when you're traveling. But I don't ever think of anything like that.

SPEAKER_01

And like when we traveled just even to Atlanta, because how many times have we got caught?

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. In the traffic. You remember I had to get out and pee one time in the middle of the traffic.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean because we were stuck for hours, and I was like, I am going to pee myself.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And I videoed it and put it on Instagram.

SPEAKER_02

You did.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You're such a good friend.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I try.

SPEAKER_02

You really are just right there for me.

SPEAKER_01

They nobody could see that little thing from across the interest. Across the meet across the interstate. They couldn't see that.

SPEAKER_02

Come on. I didn't care if they did. Take a double double look.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not, I don't care about that.

Hotel Picks Pricing And Cleanliness

SPEAKER_01

No, well, when you gotta go, you gotta go. That is. And we don't we we did search our room. Oh yeah. No bed bugs this week. We could it looked it looked clean. But you know, I've always liked a hotel room with carpet. Mm-hmm. I'm not sure that's a good idea.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think they're doing less and less of that now.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it had carpet.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But there were no bugs on in the bed. Like I took the cover off, everything off. We always hate the ones where we kept our bags off the floor.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. With carpet because you know that doesn't get cleaned and telling what's in that. Ugh. Just nasty.

SPEAKER_01

There was a cool hotel. I don't know if y'all have ever stayed there. It's um the Ellis Hotel. It's a tribute autograph collection. Uh, I guess Marriott owns it. Um, it's the smallest ho hotel in downtown Atlanta. But when it was built, I think in 1913, it was the tallest building in Atlanta. Oh. And it's a very small boutique hotel. Um, but great prices, and I really like it. They and they pull your car right up to the door. I mean, it's just really convenient.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, that's good.

SPEAKER_01

And uh, I booked our rooms for for the next market trip. Yeah, and it averaged out 150 a night.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's good. See, that's the good thing if you travel tip, if you're going to big cities, sometimes the smaller hotels like that, even though it's a boutique hotel, you can get cheaper because they don't have um convention, so there's not business people staying there. So that's what happens in Atlanta a lot. Like we, you know, when we go for the big markets, we always stay at the Marriott Marquee, but they always are having some type of convention um there, and so it can drive the the price up really.

SPEAKER_01

And sometimes I'm able to stay like at the Ritz-Carlton cheaper than anybody else.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because they they are small too. Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Palm Springs Plans And Listener Tips

SPEAKER_02

Little fun little little fun fact, travel fat there. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So Palm Springs. I don't know if we talked about we're going to Palm Springs 4th of July, somewhere around there. July. July, not July. July. July.

SPEAKER_01

I think we leave on the second.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Have you gotten your plane ticket yet? Mm-hmm. Better do that. Mm-hmm. With the gas prices going up, the tickets gonna be going up. Um, we have ours. Uh have you planned anything while we're there? I guess was.

SPEAKER_01

I kind of know things that we're gonna do, but I haven't like planned the I know nothing about it.

SPEAKER_02

I don't even know where it is other than it's in the state of California. I well, I do know it's in the desert, so I guess that would be Southern California.

SPEAKER_01

We have to rent a car. Okay. Um it's just nice to have. Um, I thought what we might do in the middle of it is one day drive to out to Vegas.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And spend the night in Vegas. And then come because it's only four hours. That would be fun. It's a fun drive too. It's like I mean, I've driven that a lot.

SPEAKER_02

That's exciting. My ex is I've been wanting to go to Vegas.

SPEAKER_01

My ex's mother lived in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs. And uh we used to do we would fly into Vegas and drive to visit her. And then we would, you know, it's fun to break it up, like in the middle, just to do a little jaunt out there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then come back.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I'm so down for that.

SPEAKER_01

And then we're going to do the tram one day. So it's uh we'll get in a tram and it's eighty, five hundred feet in the air. So it will be like I'm guessing when we're there, it'll probably be a hundred and five to a hundred and ten.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it'll be about thirty degrees cooler up there.

SPEAKER_02

It's gonna be like when Daniel and I got married in Las Vegas. Because it was a hundred and wasn't it like one twelve or one ten when we got married. Oh my gosh. And they're all like, it's a different heat. It's a dry heat. It's still damn hot. It is still hot. I mean, it feels like you're in a I mean, you just don't sweat because it evaporates as quickly as well. You're not you're you're not wet, but damn, it's still hot.

SPEAKER_01

The one thing is like everywhere in Palm Springs has the mist. Yeah, and it that sounds bougie.

SPEAKER_02

Is there a spa there? Or is there a spa where we're staying? Yeah, it's very nice. Okay. Very nice. I'm looking forward to that. So if you've been to Palm Springs or and have any recommendations, you need to let us know on our hotline number, which I don't have with me, but it's down in the show notes.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't been in like when is the last time I went? Like 10 Dylan and I have been together. Have you gone since we've been to before before I bought the loft? So it would have been I haven't been in eleven years. I don't remember you guys. Almost 11 years. Well I was right before spring. It's been eleven no, it's been 10 years right now. Mm-hmm. Because I went right before uh the spring right before I bought the loft.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So 10 years.

SPEAKER_02

Isn't it crazy that we bought the farm and you bought your loft 10 years ago this May?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

The end of the month.

SPEAKER_01

I love I love Palm Springs. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, let us know if you have any recommendations or things we should do.

SPEAKER_01

We should you know, we should probably drive out to the coast so you can see or not.

SPEAKER_00

Whatever.

SPEAKER_01

But Vegas would be fun.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'd definitely want to do that. I've been wanting to go there. Mm-hmm. The guy from Wynn still calls me like every month. We'd love for you to come stay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they don't call me. I did horrible there.

SPEAKER_02

That's the one where we went into the high um what do you call it? Limit slots, and I won. Um, and they've been calling. So and that's been years ago. He still calls like once a month. I have to look him up, say, hey, we're actually coming. We're gonna be in the area.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

Wrap Up Reviews And Next Week

SPEAKER_02

You got what can you do? You got something for me? Um, all right. Well, I think we need to pull this baby over. You got to do a, you're gonna you and Dylan are gonna do an auction tonight. Yes. I get another night off, and then I'm gonna be gone for the next two. I don't know what to do with myself. This is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

You better be home early enough Thursday.

SPEAKER_02

I will. We're gonna do plants on Thursday.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'll be here. Be here and be square. I'll be ready to go. I'm gonna actually go home tonight and I'm gonna pack my bag for high point and leave it at the house ready. And then I'm gonna pack for the beach and obviously take that with us. But we'll be back by the afternoon on Thursday.

SPEAKER_01

And then I'm gonna book our hotel rooms. Did um, did you get passes for all of us?

SPEAKER_02

No, but I'll do that for high point. I'll do that tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Do that tonight. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

All right, we're signing off. Remember, you can leave us a review wherever you're listening.

SPEAKER_01

But only if it's a good one.

SPEAKER_02

Amen. And share us with your friends. We'll see you next week, and we'll be talking about what we saw at the High Point furniture market. I actually ordered us, I think they're supposed to come in today, um, two microphones that can connect to like my phone so that we could record. We're gonna see if it'd be better than the last time we recorded in the car. It was a little, like cut in and out a little bit. So I'm hoping the microphones and we could record the podcast on our way home from pop points it's fresh and we can talk about what. So hopefully that works out. So, anyway, we'll see you next week. Bye, y'all.
